My Target Deals 2/22/11

After a conversation with my mom this afternoon, we decided to make a trip to Target this evening.  There are a lot of good Target coupons on their website right now - making lots of things super cheap.
Here's what I got:

And what did I pay????  $7.17

I got the 2 pairs of jeans for FREE!!  These jeans were marked down to $4.98 and I had a $5 coupon from Target's site.
The notebook paper was marked down to $0.70. The cheese was $0.29 per bag after a Target coupon and 2 $1/1 peelie coupons (from some cream cheese).  The bleach was $0.47 after Target coupon and the cleaner with bleach was $0.37 after Target coupon.  The mouthwash was $0.39 after coupon and the ibuprofen was free after a Target coupon.  Not bad......

We went to Dillons after we were done with Target and all I bought was some coffee creamer and some reduced meat.  I only saved 37%.  My mom did well though!  Her receipt said she saved 58% so that was good (better than me - she didn't have a problem pointing that out, hehehe).

I'll be back tomorrow to post the weekly grocery store deals (it's DOUBLE DOLLAR WEEK at Leeker's!!!).  Maybe I'll post some pics of my stockpile too??  Hmmm...

My Deals 2/11/11

My mom has been on vacation all week and since we were snowed in part of the week, we decided to get out of the house and go shopping (without kids – whoa!).  First we hit up SAM’S.  Mom didn’t really want to go there because really, who wants to visit their job while their on vacation?!  I needed to go to stock up on some meat so I talked her into coming with me.
I got a package of chicken breasts, a package of boneless skinless chicken thighs (for a recipe I saw the other day – I’ll post it when I make it next week), a package of chicken drumsticks, some thin buns, eggs and 2 four packs of Glade Christmas candles that were marked down to $3.91.

Our next stop was Walgreens.  WOOHOO!  My best Walgreens trip EVER!  Here’s what I got:

Wanna know how much I paid?  NOTHING!!  They actually paid me $2 (with a Register Reward)!!
Here’s how (and keep in mind that not all stores have the same clearance items so I don’t know if this scenario can be duplicated):
2 - Scrubbing Bubbles – while browsing the aisles, I came across these with a bright orange clearance tag below them.  The tag said they were $3.49.  I found out at the register that the tag was put in the wrong spot and they were supposed to be $9.99 each!  Anyway, I had 2 $5.00 off 1 ($5/1) coupons that made these free with $1.51 overage.  (I’ll get into the overage thing in a minute…)
5 - Febreeze Flameless Luminaries – these were marked down to $3.79 each.  Again, I had 5 $5/1 coupons that made these free with $1.21 overage.
4 – Hershey Pieces - on sale 2 for $5 with a $2/2 Walgreens instant coupon making them 2 for $3.  I stacked that with a manufacturer’s coupon for $2/2.  I paid $0.50/bag.
2 – Full Bars - these were buy one get one free.  So, they were 2 for $2.98.  I had a $1/1 coupon that made them $0.99 each.
Here’s where it gets weird.  With these items minus the overage, the store actually owed me a refund of $2.10.  They obviously cannot do that so I had to get filler items to bring my total to $0 or more.  There just so happened to be some Reese’s Drops at the register that were 2 for $2 and some Laffy Taffy near the register for $0.10.  That brought my total to $0.  BUT WAIT!  THERE’S MORE!  A Register Reward printed from P&G (from the Febreeze things) for $2 off my next order!
I’m not really too sure that the cashier should have taken off the full $5.00 for the Scrubbing Bubbles and the Febreeze.  The Walgreens Coupon Policy says that the value of the coupon cannot exceed the price of the item. I don’t know if the cashier wasn’t paying attention or what but the register did not beep or anything.  Maybe the face value was acceptable?  I even said what the policy stated and she didn’t change anything.  Hmm…
Anyway, my receipt says that my total savings were $106.74.  AWESOME!!

Our next stop was Dillons.  Mom had just received her Dillons coupons in the mail and was itching to use the free coupons they sent her.  I wasn’t expecting to get much.  Maybe just some of the $0.88 frozen corn since the price of corn just skyrocketed and I also had some stuff I knew I could get for free.  Here’s what I ended up getting:

I paid $31.31 for this stuff!

Oh yeah… and here’s my free stuff from Dillons!  :o)

After our shopping trips, we took Gabby to basketball practice and then went to Genghis Grill and WOW!  If you haven’t eaten there yet, you should!  It was SO good!  Even my picky eater, Dakota, said “I know I got $5 worth! We have to come here again!”
I feel like today was a pretty good day.  Actually it was a GREAT day.  I even got an email from Dakota’s teacher saying how great he was today!  It’s been several weeks since I’ve seen one of those so I was pretty happy to see it.  He was so proud of himself too!  I gave him some free DS time for his great day which he thoroughly enjoyed.  I will probably give him some free time tomorrow during Gabby’s basketball game too – he was pretty good the rest of the evening.
Now, I just anxiously wait for the ads to come out this Sunday so I can plan my next attack!  I plan on linking up the ads so everyone can see the deals and the match ups that my favorite blogs post.  They are SUPER helpful!

Willkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome!

So I finally did it… I finally started a blog to share my couponing adventures!  Over the past year, I’ve had so many people ask me “how do you do that?” or “where do you find your coupons?”  In this blog, I’ll offer the information that I have received, I am still receiving and I am constantly on the lookout for!  I hope that this information helps people discover the joys of couponing – something that I SHOULD have discovered a long time ago!

I’m also going to use this blog as a place to share our experiences while raising our children.  We are a blended family of four.  Cody and I were both very young when we had children.  Cody was 17 and after some time with Dakota’s mother, they decided they were not compatible in a relationship and parted ways.  I was 2 weeks shy of 19 when I had Gabby and just like Cody story, Gabby’s father and I decided we weren’t compatible in a romantic relationship and were better off as friends.  We parted ways when Gabby was 2.  Both parents are still active in Gabby and Dakota’s lives.

Here’s a little background:

Gabby
In December of 1999, three months after I had turned 18, I found out that I was pregnant.  That was one of the happiest and scariest days of my life.  I was a senior in high school and I was failing all of my classes.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my life until the day I saw those two pink lines.  At that moment, I knew that I had something to live for.  On August 27, 2000 at 8:29pm, we welcomed a beautiful 8 lb 13.8 oz baby girl.  Gabrielle Elizabeth changed my life for ever.

She is now 10 years old and turning into quite the young lady.  She has gotten to the point where we can carry on conversations with her without having to dumb things down.  Gabby definitely lives up to her name though – she will talk your ear off if you give her the chance!  She’s also very funny and is constantly cracking little jokes and showing her wit.
Gabby is currently on a recreation league basketball team and also plays trumpet in the 5th grade band.  She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up and plans on going to KU so she can live in Lawrence, drive a VW and hang out on Mass Street.

Dakota
I met Dakota in the summer of 2003.  Cody’s mom brought him to Wichita for his 1 week visitation.  Dakota was 1 ½ at the time.  The first time I met him, I was so intrigued by his beautiful big blue eyes!  I mean, his eyes are AMAZING.  Check ‘em out!!

In June of 2006, we got residential custody of Dakota.  We enrolled him in pre kindergarten and helped him to settle in.  That’s when we noticed that things just weren’t “right” with him.  His temper, his attitude, his picky eating, his quirks to name a few.  We chalked it up to him being a typical 4 ½ year old boy and the transition from his first home to our home.  When he started pre k, his teacher noticed these things too and that’s when we decided to take him to the doctor.  After checking him out, the doctor said that she would like to put him on an ADHD medication.  That seemed to calm things down a bit but he was still a very… active child.  The next school year, we took him to a therapist and had him actually tested for ADHD.  He sat down to take the test and about half an hour later, he and the doctor came in.  I remember this day because it was kind of funny how excited he was about this test.  He said “Mom! Dad!  I got a 99.9% on the test!!”  Hehe… that 99.9% meant that he tested 99.9% positive for ADHD.
After trying several different medications and different combinations of medications, his doctor has now diagnosed him with bipolar disorder too.  The medications combo he’s on now seems to be working pretty well but we definitely have our good days and bad days.
Dakota is a very smart, funny and imaginative little boy.  He loves to build very intricate ships out of Legos and LOOOOOOOOVES his DS.  And, he still has those gorgeous blue eyes!!

So yeah… that’s us!  Well, that’s the kids anyway.  Sometime, I’ll post about how Cody and I met and the courtship that followed.  That's always a fun story to tell!

:o)
